Phase 3 of the BPL 2016 play offs kicks off with the North Bengal derby. Kings will face current table toppers at Sher-e-Bangla national Cricket Stadium. Kings don’t look daunted facing this clash as they have beaten table toppers before and in style!
Kings batting looks in great shape, at least at the top. Mominul, Sabbi and Samit patel – each of their bats are singing great songs. Mominul with his last innings has claimed a space among the top 5 run scorers of BPL. Samit Patel is down at 7th at that list. Sabbir has hit the highest number of sixes alongside mehedi Maruf in this tournament. These are Kings key players and if Kings need to score big or chase a mamoth total, this 3 will have to survive the ordeals to see us through the finish line. Umar Akmal has performed the duty of wicket keeper at the last match and done quite well. Though with the bat he is bogged down to a few cameo performances, but a big hitter like Akmal, should he be in rhythm can vaporize any kind of competition in a match. Kings skipper Sammy is a bit shaky with the bat, he also needs to revive his finisher abilities and steer his crew to victory with the bat.
With the bowl Kings are okay but at last few matches they are leaking quite a bit of runs at the last 10, which is a bother as at every match so far Kings have chased. Farhad Reza and Mohammad Sami have regularly provided with economical bowling, picking up a few wickets along the way. Abul Hasan needs to get back to the form he dispkayed at the first match against the Titans. Miraz is picking up wickets every match but being very costly about it, so is Patel. James Franklin could be a good choice as a pace bowling all rounder. He can bring loads of experience and class to the Kings squad. Rangpur Riders have good top order batting but if the Kings can take quick wickets and reducce them to their middle, then they will crumble as they did in their only loss.
After all it’s the north bengal derby, its the Kings pride and future in the BPL on the line. We know against the best, Kings produce their best performance, we will hope for a great match and a great win for the Kings!
